I am an assistant professor in the Decision and Information Sciences (DISC) department at the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business.
My research interests revolve around improving the effectiveness of information systems through non-invasive means. In pursuit of this goal I combine my expertise in information systems with a variety of other disciplines including psychology, cognitive science, and judgment and decision making (JDM). I frequently design and conduct experiments and use statistical and machine learning analysis techniques to collect and analyze large data sets. My research has implications for improving satisfaction with online systems, assessment of credibility and intent, and helping companies to better understand their customers.
I have over fifteen years of information systems experience ranging from end user technical support to enterprise infrastructure architecture with companies including International Paper, First Tennessee Bank and The Bank of New York Mellon. I aim to enrich the learning my students receive by incorporating my “real-world” experience into the classroom through stories and applied examples to illustrate topics discussed in class. My technical skills, business experience, and academic experience have prepared me to teach a wide range of IS classes, and I am comfortable taking on most any teaching assignment.
